Vintage Philippe Starck "The Face" Ride-On Toy by BIG (1995)
An iconic piece of late 20th-century democratic design, "The Face" ride-on toy was designed by legendary French polymath Philippe Starck for German toy manufacturer BIG GmbH (creators of the legendary Bobby Car) in 1995/1997.
Equal parts functional toy and post-modern sculpture, "The Face" features Starck’s signature playful biomorphism. When ridden horizontally, it serves as a low-slung, smooth-rolling vehicle for toddlers. When stood upright on its base, it transforms into an expressive, characterful floor sculpture.
